Metro Modern Map (2013)
Our blog post today looks back to 2013 and our Metro Modern Map.
Metro Modern, was the Manchester Modernist Society’s free map & guide to Manchester’s Twentieth Century Architecture. The map enabled you to tour the best of Manchester’s modernist architecture using the three Metro Shuttle Bus routes. 2013 was a long time ago, and the routes have probably changed since, but why not use the map as a guide for your next state sanctioned stroll?
The map includes important Modernist buildings such as the 1939 Daily Express Building and the 1962 CIS Tower as well as some less well recognized buildings such as St.Augustine’s Church, All Saints and the ‘brutalist’ Hollaway Wall on London Road. It was designed by Des Lloyd Behari & Dan Russell.
